Productive Saturday in The Shed

Glassed four boards today with the new Resin Research Kwik Kick which is making life an awful lot easier, a 6′10 parabolic-railed bonzer with F1 cloth, two stringerless thrusters one with carbon fiber rails and one without, both vac-bagged with F1 cloth and a 6′0 keel-fin fish, with a compsand maple deck and bottom.

Looking forward to a day off in the sun tomorrow!

Help Save Crab Island!

The wave at Crab Island is under threat by a development at the pier at Doolin.

Although I cant get up there anything like as much as I used to,
Id still like to think that it would be there when I do get the chance to get back up again.

It really is one of Ireland best waves and we need to do anything we can to save it.

Please take the minute or so to sign this petition to get the development altered

Finished this the other day for a lad from Lahinch, just been trying to find the time to get the photos up.

Its 9′2″x 22 1/4″ x 2 1/2″

Anthony wanted something for bigger days that he could throw around the place but still trim off the nose. We went with the quad but put a box in aswell, just so he could have the option to try a few different set ups.

Slight concave through the nose into a single to double with a nice sharp edge along the tail.

Here’s the man himself picking up his new toy.

Anthonys a pretty handy man in his own right and was kind enough to bring me this little piece as a thank you for the board.

A local lad was getting sick of snapping his logs on a few of the heavier hollower beaches around the place and asked me would I make him something a little smaller and sleeker to get in and out of interesting situations.

So we went with a stringerless 8.0 with carbon fiber rails and my “formula one” glassing schedule top and bottom.

A few weeks back I had a weekend away with a few friends and at the time one of them said he had a few pics of me on my obeche wood alaia (theres a pic of it on the rack here in a older post)

Its a huge amount of crack but the lack of paddle power was starting to get to me.
What a difference a little bit of foam makes

This is a full compsand alaia, its 6′6” x 17″ x 1′ with a nice roll and a shape edge.
And these last 2 pics are its first test today up in Castlegregory. All the fun of the slide and none of the hassle of swimming. It even paddles bigger then it feels without the drag of fins.

If anyone is around the Kerry area drop me a bell and take if for a spin.

7′0 Maple deck

Shaped for a local lad Wayne. He’s been surfing a mal and wanted something as a step up for those bigger days. This is 7′0″ 19 3/4 -2 3/4 made using a compsand construction method. Iv been experimenting with cloths used in the aviation and racing car industry and Im starting to get some really interesting results. That coupled with the compsand construction is letting me really get the weight down but increasing the durability.

Been a bit on the busy side lately, hardly had time to get for a surf.
(but did manage to sneak in a small one today)

Here’s a few bits Iv had sitting in the shed.

Little bit of something for everyone there. The alaia down the bottom I knocked out for myself. One of the lads tells me he has a few pics of me going sideways on it, so as soon as they turn up I’ll put up one or two.

I have been working on a compsand alaia too, pic or two soon.

A while back a friend asked would I help him with a little project he cooked up.
Took just a little longer then I thought it might, finally saw the back of it this weekend

It was a take on a Skip Frye Eagle but we werent sure so we named it the Beagle.
